Start with the field, not the target number

An agronomist can help establish a sampling approach that reflects the parcel, historical use, management zones, irrigation, and crop history. The objective is not to make the laboratory result fit the preliminary estimate. The objective is to learn what the property evidence actually supports.

Interpretation matters as much as the lab sheet

A laboratory report contains measurements. Agronomic interpretation adds context: nutrient forms, soil characteristics, crop history, likely sources, management practices, and whether a measured quantity reasonably supports the way it is being described.

Overlap has to be reviewed

Nutrients and soil amendments can overlap. Product chemistry and lime-related calcium or magnesium are examples of areas where a professional review can help prevent the same source material from being counted twice.

Documentation should explain the conclusion

The strongest agronomic record identifies what was sampled, what the lab reported, how the professional interpreted it, what assumptions were changed, and what limitations remain. That record can then move with the rest of the property file to the client's tax professional.
